EagkeCreek Compression cubes

As someone who likes to travel light, I try not only to bring as little as possible with me but also to pack it as tightly as possible. To that end I’ve found compression cubes to be a good way to organize my clothing and to, well, compress them to they take more room.

I am happy with those compression cubes, but I don’t know if better alternatives exist.

Why I got it

If I’m completely honest I picked the EagleCreek compression cubes because they seemed to be durable, capable, and had the right size for my backpack. Contrary to what I usually do, I didn’t do extensive research before picking this model specifically.

I got the Small + Medium combo, but I have never needed the Smaller one so far.

What I like

The compression cubes are sturdy, the zippers seem to be very solid and I never ran into an issue with them. The Medium size works well to pack change clothes for 4 to 5 days, meaning one t-shirt, boxer and pair of sock per day.

The compression cube itself is rather thin and completely flat and foldable when empty

I use the burrito roll folding method for all my clothes, to minimize the amount of space they take. It keeps everything neat and tidy.

Once the compression zip is closed, it flattens down to about half its size. I could cram more clothes in the compression cubes but it would shrink less.

What I don’t like

I would have liked an intermediate size, between the Small and the Medium one. The small is definitely too small to be used on its own, and the medium is rather large for the my trip size. It fits nicely in my North Face Borealis backpack though!

Conclusion

Those compression cubes are great to help minimize the space my clothes takes when traveling and keep my bag organized. If I had to do it again I would buy the Medium one only, instead of the Small + Medium combo.
